Movie Night.

That's me by the screen!

We have wanted to buy a projector forever and finally just bit the bullet and got one. It is the coolest thing! Mike built a frame for the screen and Rebekah and I sewed two king-size sheets together for it. We haven't actually been able to watch any movies in the pool yet because of the monsoons, but we set it up tonight to make sure that everything would work. We are already planning a pool party/movie night. So, what movie should we watch first?

We've used it in our bedroom on the wall facing the bed and it works perfectly! Every night is movie night now.

Roosevelt Dam

On Saturday Mike, Rebekah and I drove out to Roosevelt Dam. Mike and I have been talking about doing this since we moved here, so we decided to go for it. It is a gorgeous drive through the hills and the last 22 miles aren't paved! Pretty exciting. There were summer monsoons too, so the sky was awesome and the temps were a little cooler. It was a fun day!

Thieves!

The vandalized steering column

Back again. So much has been going on and we have had visitors all month. Rebekah and Aaron were here last week on their move to New Mexico. They parked the U-Haul in front of the house and someone tried to steal it that night! They tried to hotwire it and take the whole truck plus Rebekah's car hitched to the back! What a nightmare! Something happened though and they weren't able to get the truck started. They did take their computer and Rebekah's vacuum!! Everyone was totally upset, but we decided that they were very lucky in the end. Everything they owned (practically) was in that truck! Luckily, U-Haul was able to send someone to fix the truck right there in the street. Aaron left around 4pm that afternoon to get to Cruces and put the truck in a safe place. We felt so bad. But, Rebekah stayed until Monday and we had a great time. See next post...

New look.

I think that I will try this template for a while.  I need to have Mike make me a cool one!  More posts and pictures soon!

Swiss Chalet (kind of)

Via wind, sand, and stars - Christian Muller Architects

I love this house! Logistically, I'm not sure about living there, but wouldn't it be fun to rent for a few weeks? The aerial view of it is amazing! And, I'm sure that it is chilly (read FREEZING) there, so you could hang out on the patio wearing sweaters around a fire. So nice. But, again, only for a few weeks.

Epic Sapo battles

Mike had his proposal defense on Thursday and he rocked it! All of his professors agreed. Ben came this weekend to celebrate and celebrate we did. Lots of pool time - the only way to be outside in the summer. So hot!!

Serving Silver

Look at these cool pieces from David Clarke!  I love them.  He is a British artist and apparently very talented with silversmithing and reusing old elements.

Movie soundtracks

These are two gorgeous songs that I am obsessed with right now. They are both from relatively recent movies - Leap Year (song is a cover, obviously) and Crazy Heart.  I don't know why the screens are cropped, but it doesn't affect the sound!

Independence Day

Dad at an antique mall (I think he read the whole book).

Parents in front of a sculpture in Mesa.

Happy Independence Day! Better late than never. We rode our bikes down to Tempe Town Lake last night and watched the fireworks. Fun! My parents were here all week and we did tons of running around. We found some great stuff at various antique stores throughout the valley and spent Saturday in the pool with lots of homemade ice cream!
